Molly Maurice Latham was a talented sporting artist who worked from her studio in Clayton, Sussex, producing works in both oil and watercolour. She principally produced equestrian subjects in a similar vein to her contemporaries Sir Alfred Munnings and Lionel Edwards.

The present study represents a fine and rare example of her canine portraiture - probably a private commission for a dog owner with excellent taste.
